Salinger Zabhegyezje az amerikai irodalom egyik a (tbbek kztt) magyar irodalom viszonylatban is legnagyobb hats mve, amely korszakot, letrzst s nyelvi stlust teremtett, s az arg illetve szleng egszen j rtelmezst s dimenziit vetette fel.Viszont milyen fordti teljestmnyek, dntsek s milyen recepcis elvrsok tettk olyann, amilyen formban nemzedkek sorra hatott?
THE CATCHER IN THE RYE BY JEROME DAVID SALINGER IN A DUAL
PERSPECTIVE – RECEPTIONS AND PRINCIPLES OF TRANSLATIONAuthor: Gbriel CSORBA 4th year undergraduate studentSupervisor: Gyrgy PAPP PhD, full professorInstitution: Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities, University of Novi Sad, Novi Sad
Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye is one of the most influential works of American literature, and it has had an enormous impact on Hungarian literature (among other ones) while creating a new epoch, feeling towards life, and linguistic style, and while revealing completely new and fresh dimensions of interpreting slang and argot. However, what were the accomplishments of the translator, the decisions made by him/her, and the expectations of the reading public, that moulded this work to its final form, in which it has influenced an entire range of generations? Was the translator bent on transferring the original at all costs, or did s/he adapt him/herself to the expectations of the target language, paying special regard to the tradition of Hungarian school slang and argot? Without longing to achieve utter finality, a whole range of earlier papers deal with these issues, even if not focusing primarily on the ars poetica of translation. On the other hand, one could pose the question of what the selfsame translation process or the reception looks like in a literature with a relatively different awareness of life and language tradition, like the Serbian one. It is the subject of researches within certain disciplines that are still in development, for instance tricontrastive analysis, tripolar comparative stylistics and comparative translation criticism, which relies on the accomplishments of at least two translations into different languages. This paper tries to answer these questions by taking two translations of the aforementioned novel as foundation stones of the research it tries to perform – the Hungarian text of 1964 by Judit Gyepes, and the Serbian one of 1979 by Dragoslav Andri (which is temporally the second one of the existing four Serbian translations). In addition, the paper tries to link together all those facets that may be of some influence on the results of this analysis, like the notion of slang as the language of a particular social stratum; the notion of equivalence in translation; the interaction between the source and the target text and the spectrum of experiences that emerges out of that interaction, and the like. Keywords: tricontrastive analysis, slang, translation criticism
ROMAN LOVAC U RAI DEROMA DEJVIDA SELINDERA U DVOJAKOJ PERSPEKTIVI – RECEPCIJE I POETIKE PREVOENJAAutor: ORBA Gabriel IV. godinaMentor: dr PAP er redovni profesorInstitucija: Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Filozofski fakultet, Odsek za anglistiku, Novi Sad
Kljune rei: trikontrastivna analiza, sleng, prevodilaka kritika
